How to Decorate Guest Bedroom?

Guest bedroom is one of the very important rooms of the house in the sense that the overnight visitor of the house gets to stay there. It can have a reflection of the taste of the owner and at the same time it should cover the aspect of comfort for a variety of guests and fulfill every type of visitor’s requirement.

The most important aspect here is to ensure that the guest room should have all the basics of a bedroom and should be self sufficient. The guest should not miss his/ her own house.

The amount of money can be spent in a controlled fashion since it’s not the primary part of the house. It is that room which is generally used in most households only when visitors come over.

One can put oneself in the shoes of the guest and match the expectations of a guest room using these tips:

• The most important part the guest room is a bed, since this room is used for overnight stay. It should be comfortable and of a moderate size i.e. between queen size and king size. Spare bed sheets, pillow covers and spreads should not be forgotten along with spare pillows.
• A spare couch or a foldable bed can also be put in the guest room for more than two guests or for guests with children. This type of sleeping arrangement can be a foldable one, hence space and maintenance is saved.
• A cupboard is a must as there is always requirement of space to hang and keep clothes. The cupboard must be free of owner’s stuff and should have hangers too. Having a Chester for putting suitcases and bags is a good option.
• Good air-conditioning and ventilation system is important aspect for guest bedroom comfort.
• A reading lamp is important for late night readers. It also adds to the ambience.
• A side table is a must for keeping books, alarm clocks, water bottles etc.
• If a dressing table is not a part of the guest room then a full length mirror is a must since dressing up can become very difficult due to lack of the same. Nobody likes to walk out of their room without looking themselves up.
• If an attached bath can be a part of the guest room then it is the best since this makes the guest bedroom completely independent. Sharing a bath can be the most awkward part of a visit. To make the bathroom self sufficient the bathroom should be stocked with all basic toiletries, spare towels, bath robes etc.
• If a television or music system fits in the budget it can be added to provide more comfort to the guest room.

Finally, the guest room need not have too many art works or wall hangings. The decorations should be minimal and simple to match the taste of all kind of people, as in case of hotel rooms.
